Expertise

Giulia joined the firm in 1996 and has been a partner since 2000. She has served as managing partner for two separate terms: on her own from 2009 to 2011 and jointly with Alessandro Barzaghi from 2014 to 2017.

Giulia mainly works in the areas of real estate law and commercial law. She provides assistance to foreign and Italian groups operating in the retail sector, supporting them in real estate development in Italy. She also handles real estate acquisitions for her clients.

With regard to commercial law, Giulia assists Italian clients in joint ventures with foreign companies for foreign projects. Over the years, she has gained significant experience in managing agency, distribution, and franchise contracts, both nationally and internationally.

As part of her expertise, she also deals with insolvency matters, providing assistance for both creditors and struggling companies.

Giulia is frequently invited as a speaker at conferences on real estate and business law. She also contributes regularly to the Legal Column of Retail & Food magazine, a publication dedicated to retail and catering operators.

Since 2018, she has been on the teaching roster of NIBI — New Institute of International Business — an institution created by the Milan Chamber of Commerce and PROMOS.

Since 2014 she has been listed in the Unioncamere Lombardia roster of experts in international contracts

Giulia is a Supreme Court of Cassation Attorney.

Memberships

As part of her professional expertise, Giulia is a member of national and international associations such as AGIDI — Associazione Italiana di Giuristi di Diritto Immobiliare (Italian Association of Real Estate Lawyers), AREL — Associazione Real Estate Ladies, IDI — International Distribution Institute, and the Camera degli Avvocati Internazionalisti (International Chamber).

Since June 2017, Giulia has been a member of RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, a globally recognized professional body that promotes and enforces the highest professional standards in the development and management of land, real estate, construction, and infrastructure). She was elected to the Advisory Board of RICS Italy in July 2020, and reappointed for the 2023–2025 three-year term.

Is the German principle of “Verwirkung” applicable in Italian law? In a recent Supreme Court decision concerning lease agreements, the Italian judges addressed the issue of inactivity in enforcing a right and clarified to what extent the delay in enforcing a right may give rise to a reasonable expectation on the other party that the right has been waived by its holder and, therefore, whether there could be a breach of the “good faith” clause if the right is enforced with delay by its holder.
